Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Beyond the Quest (the "Game") is provided by Hauke Jung, Hauptstr. 41, 79199 Kirchzarten, Germany (mail@haukejung.de). These terms apply when you play the Game in a browser, in the iPhone and iPad app, or online, and when you create an account.

2. The Game during the beta

The Game is free to play during the beta. It is still in development: rules, content and features may change, and online play may be interrupted for maintenance or updates. We do our best to keep it available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Local expeditions are saved on your device; export a backup from Settings & saves if you want to keep them safe.

3. Accounts

You do not need an account to play. An optional account adds a friends list across devices. It is intended for people aged 16 and over; younger players need a parent's consent. During the beta, accounts are available by invitation. Keep access to your email and your passkeys secure, as they are how you sign in. You can delete your account at any time in the Game.

4. Fair play online

When you play online, please:

• choose explorer and display names that do not offend, harass or impersonate anyone;
• not cheat, use modified or automated clients, or exploit bugs to gain an advantage;
• not attack, overload or probe the Game's servers, or try to access rooms and accounts that are not yours.

We may remove rooms, names or accounts that break these rules, and block access where necessary to protect other players or the service.

5. Rights to the Game

The Game, its code, rules text, map scenery and card art belong to Hauke Jung. You may play it for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may share screenshots and recordings of your games. Copying, reselling or redistributing the Game itself is not permitted.

6. Paid features

The Game currently has no purchases. If paid features are added later, their price and conditions will be shown before you buy. Purchases in the iPhone and iPad app are processed by Apple under Apple's terms, and your statutory rights as a consumer remain unaffected.

7. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence, we are liable only for breaches of essential obligations, meaning obligations whose fulfilment makes proper use of the Game possible in the first place and on which you may regularly rely, and then limited to the damage typically foreseeable at the time. Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded. Because the Game is provided free of charge during the beta, we are not liable for the loss of local saves that you could have prevented with a backup.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when new features arrive. The version and date are shown above. If you have an account, you will be asked to accept a new version the next time you sign in. If you do not agree, you can keep playing without an account or delete it.

9. Applicable law

German law applies. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence also apply.
